One Pawikan Initiative
Mark David S. De Guzman is a biologist specializing in marine turtle conservation in Manila Bay. He is the founder of One Pawikan Initiative, an organization dedicated to the protection of marine turtles and their habitats. Under his leadership, the initiative was recognized as one of the DENR – National Capital Region's Top Youth Volunteer Organizations for 2 consecutive years and was among the Top 30 organizations out of 752 nominees for the 21st Ten Accomplished Youth Organizations.
He serves as a Special Science Teacher at DepEd – Manila and a former DOST – Science Education Institute scholar. In addition to his educational role, he is a member of the People's Network for the Integrity of Coastal Habitats and Ecosystems (People’s NICHE) and contributes to policy and conservation efforts as part of the Technical and Scientific Working Group for Marine Turtle Conservation in Cavite Province. His work focuses on science-based conservation and community engagement to support marine biodiversity
